Growing up, I was the fat kid, the kid that was made fun of, the kid that skipped any physical education because I was asthmatic and obese.   Obesity, which I believe is the result of an addiction to food, and numerous other addictions run in my family, and it wasn’t until I was grown and married that I realized just how susceptible to those addictions I was.   You name it, I have struggled with it. (Alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and food to name a few)  By God’s grace, the only one that I really struggle with now is food.

I guess my life changing moment, or my epiphany, if you will, was the birth of my first child. The day she was born, I stepped on the scales at the hospital and was shocked at the results, over 300lbs. (5’9” and 310lbs.)  I made a decision at that moment that I was going to lose weight so that I could run around and play with my kids. Almost 16 years ago I made that choice.  Now with 3 kids, I managed to achieve and maintain that weight loss goal. What I didn’t realize at the time is that it is not just about losing weight or being a certain number on the scale.  It is about being healthy, being healthy in mind, spirit, and body.  It is about eating the way that God intends for us to eat and moving our bodies.  It has taken me years to realize that but, it has born in me a true passion for not only telling others my story but also a passion to help others overcome their struggles and help them achieve their goals.  Loudhouse CrossFit, I believe, is God’s way of giving me an outlet for that passion.
